New Strength Devotional Inspirational Statement of the Day

Focus: Blindness

Isaiah 42:16 (NKJV) “…I will lead the blind by a way they do not know, in paths they do not know I will guide them. I will make darkness into light before them and rugged places into plains. These are the things I will do, and I will not leave them undone.”

Forgiveness is vital to recovery. Harboring resentment from wrongs done against us is destructive. It eats our creativity and erodes our mental health and well-being.  Forgiveness is tied to favor with God.

When we continue to hear a word that we think doesn’t apply to us—maybe it’s time to reconsider. God has a way of sending a word to those who desperately need a word—but it is up to the hearer to hear it.

God forgive us for the times when we hear a timely word and reject it, ignore it, criticize it, or think it was intended for someone else and not us.

God forgive us for the self-righteousness and pride that keeps us from brokenness and contrition.

Forgive us for our refusal to see and acknowledge our own faults. Heal our blindness.

Give us a hunger for the whole process of true recovery. Don’t let us off the hook without completely overhauling every flaw in our character so that we will not be the person we created, but become the person You had in mind at our conception.

Knock down the walls that separate us from true unity with You. Forgive us for finding fault with our brothers and sisters and even Your ways that do not suit us.

Forgive us for having our own agenda and turning our attention away from what You are saying in this hour.

Help us to take our fingers out of our ears and let the truth penetrate our heart, soul, and mind.

We are so unclean. We are completely unaware of the fact that we have not only soiled ourselves, but carry a stench that is offensive to Your nostrils.

Wash us so we can be clean. Strip away the layers of pride that have become the armor that keeps us from being truly slain in the Spirit. Take away the scales that we knowingly and intentionally covered ourselves with—one by one—to protect us from Your fire.

Consume the scales. Burn away the hard shell that encases our hearts.

Ignite the pages of the gospel of convenience we have written with our own hands—and the poison we have preferred over the precious, precious sacrificial blood of Your Son.

Cleanse our eyes and apply Your healing ointment. Illuminate the condition of our unknowing.

As you set us free from all of the evil we have chosen, let us also choose freedom for those we have held captive by taking judgment into our own filthy hands.

Declaration: I will find new strength by having ears to hear and eyes to see the error of my own ways.
